Michele Smith

In late 2020, Michele Smith discovered a life-altering truth—a secret her mother had carried for nearly 60 years: Michele survived a chemical and saline injection abortion attempt while still in the womb. Her journey from a childhood marked by a deep sense of rejection and shame to the healing embrace of her Creator has shaped her into a passionate voice for life. Today, she boldly shares her testimony to declare that every life—regardless of circumstance—is valuable and purposeful.

Though the chemical used in Michele’s abortion survival differs from those commonly used today, her story serves as a sobering reminder that chemical abortions—then and now—do not always end a life. Michele’s survival highlights the physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds that can follow such attempts, making her story tragically relevant in the current epidemic of at-home chemical abortions. Babies did survive chemical abortions in the past—and they are still surviving them today.

Michele’s convictions were deepened even further by the births of three grandchildren, all conceived in unexpected pregnancies to their unwed parents and born just weeks apart. Their lives serve as living reminders to her that babies are always a blessing, no matter the situation surrounding their conception.

Michele had the honor of serving as a 2024 Global Ambassador for the Abortion Survivors Network (ASN) and as ASN’s Awareness Advocate for the state of Louisiana. She leads Sabine Parish Citizens for Life, where she equips and encourages her local community—especially churches—to stand boldly for the unborn. She also co-leads More Than Sisters alongside her biological sister and fellow abortion survivor, Rose Fenchel.

Together with her husband Louis, Michele co-founded Louie’s Pizza & Prayer, Inc., a nonprofit mobile pizza ministry. Through this unique outreach, they offer free pizza and the love of Christ at disaster relief sites, church events, and pregnancy resource center (PRC) awareness events—one of Michele’s greatest joys.

Prior to launching her ministry and speaking career, Michele dedicated many years to raising and homeschooling her five children and served as a Church Administrator in Connecticut for eight years before relocating to Louisiana.

Michele resides in Louisiana with her husband. She is the proud mother of five children (plus one miscarried child in heaven) and the grandmother of eight—all of whom exist today because she survived.
